SYNOPSIS
A new series of global proportions -- from master of intrigue, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Ally Carter.

Grace Blakely is absolutely certain of three things:

1. She is not crazy.
2. Her mother was murdered.
3. Someday she is going to find the killer and make him pay.

As certain as Grace is about these facts, nobody else believes her -- so there's no one she can completely trust. Not her grandfather, a powerful ambassador. Not her new friends, who all live on Embassy Row. Not Alexei, the Russian boy next door, who is keeping his eye on Grace for reasons she neither likes nor understands.

Everybody wants Grace to put on a pretty dress and a pretty smile, blocking out all her unpretty thoughts. But they can't control Grace -- no more than Grace can control what she knows or what she needs to do. Her past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn't stop it, Grace isn't the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.

MY THOUGHTS
I'd heard so many great things about Ally Carter- a lot of people love her 'Gallagher girls' and 'Heist society' series- but this was the first book I actually read by her. I had high expectations because of all the hype, and I have to say I wasn't disappointed!

'All fall down' is fast paced and fun, with a mystery that I thought I had figured out but didn't. I was worried for some of the book that the mystery was too obvious and there wasn't enough suspense, but then it turned out everything I thought was wrong. Now I think about it I think a lot of people might guess the plot twist, but personally I really liked that the plot could catch me off guard when I thought I knew what was going on.

I really liked that whilst this book was mostly an entertaining and intriguing spy kind of novel, it also had a lot of depth and emotional scenes. Grace had a realistic and heartbreaking reaction to her mothers death which made the book seem a lot more authentic. I hate it when characters have terrible things happen to them (eg. their mum dies right in front of them) but they just seem to be totally over it after a few chapters, but Grace really isn't like that.

Grace got on my nerves a little bit sometimes, although she did have motives for the majority of her actions, but I really liked pretty much all of the other characters. They were all unique and I was interested in every single character, no matter how small their roles were. I can't wait to find out more about the different characters in future books!
My main problem with this book was that I really didn't understand the setting. This is probably just be me being really stupid, but I was confused about what embassy row actually was and how it worked. I just think that there could have been more of an explanation of the world and the situation for people like me who suck at understanding things.

One more issue I had with this book was that I found some of it a little bit repetitive. I just felt like I read some of the scenes multiple times and Grace seemed to be saying the same thing a lot. Most of the time it was very fast paced and definitely kept me entertained, but there were a few scenes that I thought we could have done without.

IN CONCLUSION
"All fall down" is an entertaining and enjoyable first book in what is promising to be a really interesting series. I did have a few problems with the world and the main character, but overall I really liked it! I can't wait to read the future books in this series and I'm really intrigued to see where the story goes from here.

4/5 STARS
